How can you change minds without making them feel criticized? That's a tough nut to crack. Instead, can you plant the ideas in their mind? Can you gently guide them to coming up with your idea as if it was their own? ( I have no idea yet on how to do this successfully, I'm still working on this myself.). You work with people - and so it's almost more important to focus on how you make them feel, in addition to having arguments backed by data, logic, wisdom, and sound reason.įorcing others into your idea is going to be a rough road. It takes a measure of self control to not take it personally and sometimes, people don't have that control. In general, no one likes to be criticized - not even when we ask for constructive criticism or when the job expects it. When you say, "being dominant" I wonder if it's the way you are attempting to provide feedback. You try to drive initiative, they say you are being dominant. You decide not to say anything, then they say you are not participating enough. You don't like their idea, you get bad feedback- by the this is what decides who gets promoted. It might be OK to talk about the merits of an interview process, or compare what has been successful at your company, but if it ends up just turning into complaints your post might still be removed.
